Call for Workshop of Theses and Dissertations<\/strong><\/h3>

The <\/span>Workshop of Theses and Dissertations (WTD)<\/b> aims to motivate discussions about the graduate-level research on topics covered by SIBGRAPI among graduate students, recently graduated students, and senior researchers. Researchers who have recently concluded their graduate studies are cordially invited to submit a paper to the SIBGRAPI WTD.<\/span><\/p>

Who Can Submit?<\/strong><\/h3>

Students who defended their M.Sc or Ph.D. <\/span>after 01\/01\/2023<\/b> and did not present their final work in previous editions of the SIBGRAPI WTD.<\/span><\/p>

Selection Criteria<\/strong><\/h3>

The WTD program committee will evaluate the submitted works concerning the following criteria: originality, technical quality, contribution to the research area, and clarity of presentation.<\/span><\/p>

Best Work Awards<\/strong><\/h3>

Awards for the best Ph.D. and M.Sc. works will be given based on the scores of the papers (submission system), the opinion of a small committee, and the evaluation of the presentations. To be eligible for an award, the student must present the paper in the WTD oral session (see Presentation Format below). Ph.D. works must be presented in English. M.Sc. works may be presented in English or Portuguese, but English is preferable.<\/span><\/p>

Submission Instructions<\/strong><\/h3>

Both M.Sc. and Ph.D. works must be written in English. The text should follow the SIBGRAPI template with the following adjustments:<\/span><\/p>

  1. The submission process is not blind, i.e., the authors’ names should not be omitted. Students must appear as the first author and the advisor as the last author, with eventual co-advisors and other collaborators in the middle.<\/span><\/li>
  2. The articles are limited to 6 double-column pages. An extra page can be used only for references.<\/span><\/li>
  3. The text should indicate, by a footnote on the first page linked to the name of the first author, whether the work relates to an M.Sc. dissertation or a Ph.D. thesis.<\/span><\/li>
  4. The last section of the paper should list awards, patents, publications, or possible distinctions achieved as a result of the M.Sc. dissertation or the Ph.D. thesis.<\/span><\/li><\/ol>

    Papers should be submitted through the CMT system at <\/span>https:\/\/cmt3.research.microsoft.com\/SIBGRAPIWTD2024<\/span><\/a>, together with their respective M.Sc. dissertation or Ph.D. thesis in PDF file format (accepted works must submit a camera-ready paper as well).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    Presentation Guidelines<\/strong><\/h3>

    All accepted papers will be scheduled for oral presentations. More information will follow.<\/span><\/p>

    Proceedings<\/strong><\/h3>

    All accepted papers will be assigned a DOI and made available at the <\/span>SBC Open Lib (Sol)<\/b><\/a>, the Brazilian Computer Society’s digital library.<\/span><\/p>

    No-show and No-registration policy<\/strong><\/h3>

    No-show papers are defined as accepted papers submitted by authors who subsequently did not present the paper in person (no videos, no remote cast) at the technical meeting. No-registration papers for WTD are defined as accepted papers where at least one author did not register with the Graduate Student registration fee (Graduate Student member, Graduate Student non-member SBC or superior category) for the conference, where each paper must be associated with a different paid registration. No-show and no-registration papers will not be included in the program and will be removed from the proceedings.<\/span><\/p>
